Jerry Jeff Walker, a Texas nation singer and songwriter who wrote the pop tune “Mr. Bojangles,” has died at age 78.



Walker died Friday of most cancers, household spokesman John T. Davis instructed The Related Press.



“He had battled throat most cancers for a few years, and another well being points, the trigger demise was most cancers,” Davis stated Saturday.



Walker emerged from New York’s Greenwich Village people scene within the 1960s and he was a founding member of the band Circus Maximus. He moved to Texas within the 1970s and in 1972 scored a success along with his model of the Man Clark tune “L.A. Freeway.”



Walker and the Misplaced Gonzo Band in 1973 recorded an album dwell in Texas referred to as “Viva Terlingua” that turned a traditional of the country-rock scene. Walker has since launched greater than 30 albums.



In 1986, he fashioned unbiased music label Tried & True Music and launched albums beneath it.



Walker was identified with throat most cancers in 2017, present process chemotherapy and radiation, he instructed the Austin American Statesman in 2018.



“I assume I took my singing with no consideration, and now I don’t,” he instructed the newspaper.



In 2017, it was introduced that Walker had donated greater than 100 bins of his music archives to The Wittliff Collections at Texas State College, together with tapes, pictures, hand-written lyrics and artifacts.



Walker’s survivors embody his spouse Susan, son Django and daughter Jessie Jane.
